☕ Séku Skandan – ENFP, SDGs 8 & 9
Séku Skandan’s Human CV is a tapestry of community, technology, and human-centred innovation. A strategist with a heart for grassroots change, he’s as comfortable whiteboarding a new app workflow as he is repairing an old phone in a community hall. He describes himself as a “second person supporter” — the one who helps you sharpen your bold idea, simplify the process, and make it happen.
🌱 THE STARTING POINT: “I look at the value system first.”
When someone brings Séku a challenge or a dream, he starts by scanning their values. “If it’s beyond yourself, if it benefits others, I get excited.” From there, he asks questions until the idea takes shape. He’s built a practice around supporting founders and collectives to execute their visions with the least resources possible — often through clever, accessible tech solutions.
He was one of the first people Jen shared The Human CV concept with — and the one who mapped out the tools and systems to make it real. “Quick, simple, low barrier to entry,” he recalls, “and we puzzled it together until it worked.”
💡 PERSONALITY & SHIFT:
Originally testing as ENFJ (“I needed control in my life”), Séku now identifies more as ENFP — leaning into spontaneity and creative freedom. The shift reflects his journey from an immigrant navigating survival, to a New Zealand citizen with space to rest, reflect, and create. Yet he still values structure — automating groceries, scheduling catch-ups, and streamlining routines — as a foundation for play.
His top strengths include leadership and teamwork, which he once resisted. “I didn’t see myself as a leader in the traditional sense. But living in intentional communities has shown me leadership can be the backbone support, not just the front-facing role.”
🏠 LIVING WITH 20 PEOPLE:
For years, Séku has lived in an intentional co-op house of 20 — a micro-organism of shared values, non-violent communication, Slack threads, and kitchen rosters. “It works because of emotional intelligence and curiosity,” he says. Potential housemates answer 10–15 questions, from conflict resolution scenarios to the best way to have toast. (“Mine’s 72% toasted, multi-seed bread, almond butter, avocado — or tuna if you’re not vegan.”)
🌏 PROJECTS & IMPACT:
Augmented Reality Storytelling – With Maui Studios, Séku helped bring indigenous Māori stories to life through AR, blending sacred traditions with future-ready technology. “We showed kids their own stories in a medium they love. You could see the pride light up.”
Repair Revolution – A grassroots tech repair movement teaching people to fix rather than throw away, from phones with dead batteries to 15-year-old laptops. The initiative fed into New Zealand’s Right to Repair Amendment Bill. “It started with fixing what’s in front of you … and ended up changing law.”
For Séku, both projects tie to his SDGs: #8 Decent Work & Economic Growth and #9 Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure.
“It’s about equalising access to innovation — taking what exists and making it work for more people.”
⚡ FUTURE OF WORK & TECH FOR GOOD:
Séku is passionate about the intersection of art, tech, and equity. He wants to work with founders and organisations who dream big but lack time, resources, or systems. His method: strip away inefficiency, automate the repetitive, and focus human energy where it matters. “I want people to work on their crazy idea, not get buried in admin.”
📚 BOOKS & IDEAS THAT SHAPED HIM:
The Fountainhead – sparked his independent, rebellious streak.
The Kite Runner – taught him about forgiveness.
The Alchemist – affirmed the meaning in wandering.
Wings of Fire – “Dreams are not what you see when you sleep … they are what keep you awake.”
I Contain Multitudes – a science-meets-spirituality reminder of our microbial interconnectedness.
💭 30-DAY CHALLENGE:
Given the choice, Séku would journal one page a night for 30 days, cued by a cup of evening tea. Reward? A trip to the hot pools. Mentor of choice? James Clear (Atomic Habits) beacuse of his blend of compassion and accountability.
🤝 WHO HE WANTS TO MEET:
Founders, collectives, and organisations working between art, tech, and equity — especially those who value people, planet, and purpose above profit. “If you’ve got a mad idea, I’ll help you make it real.”
